This quadrotor is based on an ABS frame printed on a 3D printer. It was designed by Brendan22 as part of a series of multi-rotors called “T” because of it’s tubular section arms. In order to be able to fit the four 30 A ESCs (bigger than the ones suggested for this model) inside the quad I had to modify the bottom tray. (more…)

3D Printed Quadcopter

The idea of building a 3D printer came after observing that it is possible to reuse obsolete ink-jet printers and common inexpensive components (wood, threaded rods and bearings). This model is called Printrbot and besides being a commercial product (which can be purchased as a kit or assembled) plans and 3D models of its parts are available for download and 3D print (or laser cut). Project done in colaboration with Alvaro Pardo and Julieta Keldjian for the Electrical Engineering Department of Universidad Católica del Uruguay (UCUDAL) funded by ANII (Fondo María Viñas).

The preservation of audiovisual materials is part of a large objective of preservation of the cultural heritage. In order to preserve audiovisual materials restoration and storing procedures compatible with actual standards are needed. The goal of this project is to study computational efficient digital restoration algorithms. For that end computational systems based on GPUs (graphic processing units) were used.

GPU based Implementation of Film Flicker Reduction Algorithms

Electric Slide Organistrum arises from the idea of creating an acoustic instrument based on a gestural interface.

The category “electric musical instruments” includes all instruments that use electrical devices to determine or affect the sound they produce. Amplified instruments are found within this category, and they are those using  electronic circuitry to amplify the signals generated when played. An example of this is the electric guitar, where the sound is the result of transducing string’s motion into an electrical signal.

eSO [Electric Slide Organistrum]

I built this radio controlled powered paraglider for using it as a platform for aerial photography. The characteristics of this type of aircraft (mainly portability, flight speed and autonomy) make it highly suitable for this task. I started this project by working with the plans of a power kite (Eliminator II). The aim was to modify the aerodynamic profile of the kite so it can stay inflated even with an angle of attack close to 0° (situation for which the kite was not designed) and build a (more…)

RC Powered Paraglider

In collaboration with Gonzalo Arocena and Marcos Aitcin.

CDT is a system based on digital image processing for studying the process of fruit ripening. As an application of this system a prototype for analyzing the ripening process of tomatoes was built. This system acquires images of the whole surface of the fruit, processes that sequence of images and generates a pseudocylindrical equal area projection in which the area of regions of interest can be measured. The evolution of the area of these regions of interest is used for studying the fruit ripening process.

Face detection in processing

In collaboration with Gonzalo Arocena and Gonzalo Ferrando.

We carried out the preliminary design for a mass storage device capable of transferring files to and from other storage device without using a computer. The device was designed to allow the transfer of files in situations where there is no access to a computer, or when people who have to perform the task doesn’t have the skills required for operation.

Enhanced pendrive

Shellhouse-[living portable] is a project of the Chilean artist Carolina Pino in which I was pleased to participate in 2009. Carolina started this project back in 2005 in New York as her thesis at NYU’s Interactive Telecommunications Program, optimizing the design of cardboard shelters used by homeless people.

Shellhouse

The application draws circles of variable radius, and their color is determined by the position of the cursor. It uses the HSB color space (the “x” coordinate determines the hue, the “y” coordinate the saturation and the radius determines the brightness).

Worm

This application maps the color of certain pixels of an input image in diameters of circles. A bright pixel corresponds to a small diameter and a dark pixel corresponds to a large diameter. This produces an effect known as Halftone. This version also asigns the color of the pixel to the circle.
